Take Action Against Trafficking

You hold power to create change!

Human trafficking—including both labor trafficking and sex trafficking—can feel like an overwhelming issue. The good news is that meaningful change often begins with everyday choices. While no single action can end exploitation, each of us has the power to reduce demand for unethical labor practices, raise awareness, and support survivors.

1. Practice Intentional Consumerism

Many products used every day—from clothing and electronics to food, candles, and home goods—may involve exploitative labor practices somewhere in their supply chains.

Before making a purchase, ask the company about…

  • Who made this product?

  • Were the workers treated fairly and paid ethically?

  • What standards do you have for labor and working conditions within your manufacturing facilities?

  • Do you prioritize transparency and responsible sourcing? What certifications and audits has the manufacturing facility done (Fair Trade, SA8000, Sedex/SMETA, or similar)?

  • How do you take steps to prevent forced labor and child labor?

  • What does transparency mean for you within your supply chain?

Every purchase is a vote for the kind of world we want to create. By supporting businesses committed to ethical sourcing and fair labor practices, consumers can help reduce demand for exploitation.

When companies are not held accountable for exploitative labor practices, we risk reinforcing a culture where exploitation can thrive.

2. Learn About Labor Trafficking

Labor trafficking is often overlooked, yet it is one of the most common forms of human trafficking worldwide. It can occur in agriculture, manufacturing, domestic work, hospitality, construction, and many other industries.

Learning to recognize the realities of labor trafficking helps challenge misconceptions and increases our ability to advocate for vulnerable workers.

3. Support Survivor-Led Organizations

Many organizations serving trafficking survivors provide housing, counseling, legal advocacy, job training, and community support. Consider donating, volunteering, or amplifying the work of survivor-led and survivor-informed organizations.

4. Use Your Voice

Share accurate information, engage in thoughtful conversations, and advocate for policies that protect workers and hold exploitative systems accountable. Awareness alone is not enough—but awareness paired with action can create change.

5. Invest in Ethical Businesses

When possible, support businesses that prioritize human dignity throughout their supply chains. Ethical businesses help demonstrate that consumers care about how products are made—not just what they cost.

6. Remember that Small Actions Matter

Ending human trafficking requires collective effort. Every intentional purchase, every conversation, every act of advocacy, and every investment in ethical business contributes to a future where people are valued more than profit.

At Glow & Pieces, we believe that products should bring comfort and joy without contributing to exploitation. That's why we intentionally seek suppliers and manufacturing partners that align with our commitment to ethical sourcing and reducing the risk of forced labor and child labor in our supply chain. Every purchase supports a business founded on the belief that people matter.
