Our Story
Hi, I'm Jessa Crisp, the founder of Glow & Pieces.
I am a survivor of both labor and sex trafficking, and I am passionate about making sure the products I bring into my life do not come at the expense of someone else’s humanity.
I have always loved puzzles, and in January 2026, I began exploring the world of ethically manufactured puzzles. What I discovered surprised me: finding puzzle companies willing to speak openly about how and where their products were made was much harder than I expected. It took multiple emails and phone calls with companies around the world to begin finding answers.
Those conversations stayed with me. Some companies avoided discussing the people behind their products. Others responded with humility and a willingness to learn, admitting they had not thought much about manufacturing practices and wanted to do better.
I want to help change that.
I want to create a culture where asking about the people who make our products is commonplace, not unusual. Where we celebrate the artists whose work brings puzzles to life while also asking questions about the factories where those puzzles are manufactured. Where ethical sourcing is not an afterthought, but an essential part of doing business.
And then there are candles.
I love candles, and I wanted to bring my love of candles and puzzles together in a way that invites people into more intentional, mindful living. For me, puzzles offer a chance to slow down, be present, and find a little peace in the middle of life's complexities. Making candles offers something similar. It is a grounding, creative, and healing practice that gives me space to breathe.
Just as I did with puzzles, I have worked to find candle-making suppliers who can provide information about their sourcing and manufacturing practices and help me make informed decisions about the products I use. My goal is to support supply chains that respect human dignity and do not rely on the exploitation of children or adults.
Glow & Pieces is deeply personal to me. It is a way to bring together my commitment to ethical sourcing, my love of puzzles and candles, and my belief that small, intentional choices can contribute to something bigger. It is also a way for me to support my family while navigating the lasting effects of trauma and the disabilities that are part of my life.
I know that no company can change the world overnight, and I don't pretend to have every answer. But I believe we can ask better questions, make more thoughtful choices, and encourage one another to do better.
