Hi, I'm Jessa Crisp, the founder of Glow & Pieces.

I am a survivor of human trafficking. Through my personal experiences and walking with others, I’ve learned that healing isn't always found in the big moments; instead, it often happens in the small, quiet ones.

For as long as I can remember, I have adored puzzles, but when I was at my safe house in 2009, they became a way for me to cope with both facing my past and finding hope for the future.

Even today, sitting down with a puzzle gives me permission to slow down. They quiet my racing thoughts, bring me back to the present moment, and remind me that progress doesn't have to happen all at once. Piece by piece, image by image, I hold the power to find calm in the midst of the challenges I face.

Now that I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have become fascinated by the ways puzzling supports emotional wellness. It encourages mindfulness, focus, problem-solving, and patience. It invites us to put down our phones, engage our minds, and create space for reflection. Both healing and puzzling have something in common: neither happens overnight. Rather, both unfold one piece at a time.

Similarly, over the years, candles have become part of my daily mindfulness practice—marking a transition from the busyness of the day into a moment of intentional presence. The soft glow is a reminder to me to pause, breathe, and simply be.

Those experiences have inspired the creation of Glow & Pieces.
